On the Creation of a Wall in Israel

As much as I would like to see the existence a barrier on Isreali territory to keep out Palestenians bent strapping explosives to themselves and creating havoc in Israeli civil life, I am saddened by the construction of a wall as a symbol of what divides peoples. Walls do not promote dialogue whether real or figurative nor do they unite people. In Isreal, Palestenian citizens still live as inferiors alongside Christians and Jews. Let's not forget that even though the State of Israel was given legitamacy in 1948 there were Palestinians who had property there and gradually lost that more and more to invasive settlements similar to the ones that zealots have created in the West Bank. I do not support the notion of strapping explosives to someone so that he can create further human carnage but I don't support the continued subjugation of a people that once lived in the area and were deposed, even if Isrealis say that the land was theirs since biblical times. Historically walls have been created to keep invading hoardes out, like Hadrian tried to keep the Piths out from Scotland and the Great Wall itself was used to keep out enemy forces in China. In the end these walls and others turned to ruin and a useless representation of the failure of diplomacy
